"Kalahari Stars", 11" x 15", Linocut
A print inspired by Namibia's harsh but beautiful landscape, ravaged by drought and a long and turbulent history of colonisation. The standing Oryx blended into the sands represents the resilience of beings inhabiting this unforgiving climate, and is mirrored by the man who looks ahead at a brave new world.
"Dancing For Rain I", 11" x 15", Linocut, Hand-cut Paper
Dancing human figures encased in the skull of a kudu symbolise the cycle of life and death in Namibian lands that depend heavily on rainfall that is often insufficient for years on end. *
Each print is hand-cut and hand-finished.
*Kudus inhabit the neighbouring Okavango Delta, Botswana, which sees much more rain and greenery, providing a stark contrast in survival rates.
